Adding a video to the analyzer

Adding a video to the analyzer
Before you can do anything with the analyzer, you need to add a video to the media container.

You have 3 options available:
  • Add a video from your video catalog
  • Import a video from 3rd party host
  • Load video from your local device

Loading a video from your catalog
This is the preferred method when you want to save your sessions to a project.
1. Click the "load video from catalog" icon or click "video" on the top menu and select "Load Video"

Importing a video from YouTube
You can import a video from 3rd party hosting companies like YouTube and Vimeo, however there are cosmetic issues that are out of our control and may effect the way you perform analysis.

The biggest problem is 3rd part hosting companies like "YouTube" and "Vimeo" add their own overlays over every single video on their platform. So when videos are paused, you would get a big overlay like the one below:

Which blocks you doing any real analysis, and at the end of the video they embed adverts to other unrelated videos.

Saying that, we still allow youtube videos to be added.

To import a video from a 3rd party, its very simple.

1. First, you need to copy the url address of the video you want to add.
(Here, I am copying the youtube url link to the video)

2. Switch back to the anlyzer app and click the "Import Video" button
(or click "Video" on the top menu and select "Import Video").

Loading videos from your local device
Due to browser limitations, you cannot automatically load locally stored files because of security implications.

So when you are working with projects, you need to remember that in order to save the project without any issues. You need to load a video from your catalog, or import it from a 3rd party.

Loading a video from your local device is actually recommended when using the "chalk and talk" feature.
1. Click the "load local video" button, or click "video" on the dropdown menu and select "Load Local Video"

The local browse window now appears.

Select any video on your device by double clicking the file. Or click it once and select.

The video will now be loaded onto the analyzer.

Whichever way you use to add a video to the analyzer, when the video is loaded you will see the video length on the bottom right hand corner of the media container.

And the current playback position time to the right of the length time.

You should now be able to add a video to your analyzer by using the option that suits your requirements.
